Tiffany Parakeets and Goldfish Stained Glass Window – A Masterpiece of American Art

Tiffany Parakeets and Goldfish Stained Glass Window

This exquisite stained glass window, created by the renowned Tiffany Glass Company, was first exhibited in 1890 in New York City as part of a showcase celebrating the completion of 35 Tiffany stained glass windows. The intricate design features vibrant parakeets and shimmering goldfish, crafted in rich, colorful glasswork that exemplifies Tiffany's Art Nouveau style.

The parakeets are believed to be inspired by John James Audubon's illustrations of the now-extinct Carolina Parakeet, also known as the Carolina Parrot, from his iconic work Birds of America. This piece is widely recognized as a triumph in American decorative arts and a stunning example of 19th-century stained glass craftsmanship.

The original Tiffany window is currently housed in the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, where it continues to draw admiration for its artistic brilliance and historical significance.
